Sister Whale Song pt. 1
This portrait of a Humpback whale signifies the infamous frequencies of the species, their song. These whales are known for their haunting melodies that travel up to 10,000 miles in the ocean. These songs are used for communication and are integral aspects of these whales lives. They share songs with eachother to share routes on migration paths, feeding ground locations, as well as potential dangers that may lie ahead.
Indigenous peoples of Baja, Central America, as well as Western United States, recognized the medicine of the Whale Songs and often compared them to our own ceremonial songs that are received in dreams and shared in our communities.
